FRIENDLY TENANT: Smiles Through the Walls The Quiet One Upstairs He’s the most helpful man in the building. Everyone says so. When the quiet, capable stranger moves into apartment 3B, he fixes what’s broken before anyone thinks to ask. He catches falling groceries, holds doors at exactly the right moment, remembers everyone’s name and their routines and their smallest habits. The whole building adores him. Maya doesn’t. It starts as nothing — a feeling she can’t explain, a wrongness she can’t name. He’s polite. He’s precise. He’s too precise — his kindness measured out like a formula, his smile arriving half a second after his eyes have already finished their calculation. And at night, through the ceiling above her bed, she hears him. Soft footsteps. A slow, deliberate dragging sound. Then silence — the kind that isn’t rest, but a switch being flipped off. No one else hears it. No one else sees what she sees. And the more she watches him, the more she becomes certain: he’s watching her too. As small disturbances become suspicion, and suspicion curdles into isolation, Maya has to decide whether she’s losing her mind — or whether she’s the only one in the building who’s finally paying attention. Some neighbors knock on your door. Others learn to live inside your walls. Friendly Tenant is a slow-burn psychological thriller about obsession, perception, and the terrifying possibility that the most dangerous person in the room is the one everyone else calls kind.
