The Fall Engine

Book 3 in the Jade Echo Chronicles trilogy Some tombs test your courage. The Fall Engine tests everything else. When Lyra Holt and Rowan Ashfall descend into an ancient ruin built to measure survival, they discover a place that does not simply trap intruders — it studies them. Every corridor is a calculation. Every chamber is a lesson. The tomb records hesitation, rewards adaptation, and punishes anyone who mistakes endurance for victory. As the challenges grow more brutal, Lyra and Rowan are forced to rely on each other in ways neither expected. Trust becomes strategy. Proximity becomes survival. And beneath the danger, something deeper begins to surface between them — something the tomb seems determined to expose as much as their weaknesses. From collapsing floors and shifting stairways to psychological trials and impossible descents, The Fall Engine is a relentless, atmospheric fantasy adventure about resilience, partnership, and the cost of refusing to stop. But when the final chamber opens, survival is no longer the only prize. What they carry back with them may change everything. Some tombs test your strength. This one measures how far you fall. When Lyra and Rowan enter an ancient ruin unlike any they’ve faced before, they quickly learn this is no ordinary trial. The Fall Engine doesn’t care who they are. It doesn’t listen. It doesn’t negotiate. It observes. Every misstep is recorded. Every hesitation recalculated. Every failure… expected. As the tomb escalates its trials—from shifting corridors and collapsing chambers to a vast mechanical abyss designed to break even the most skilled survivors—Lyra must confront a truth more dangerous than any trap: Skill alone won’t get them out. Because the deeper they descend, the more the tomb demands something harder than survival, trust, adaptation, and the willingness to keep going after everything breaks. Lyra Holt has survived ruins that listen, bargain, and even hunger. But the Fall Engine is something else entirely—a cold, mechanical system built to test not strength, but response. As Lyra and Rowan descend deeper into its shifting chambers, every trial strips away certainty. Timing fails. Precision breaks. Even skill becomes unreliable. What remains is something far more dangerous—and far more human. Forced to rely on each other in ways they’ve never allowed before, Lyra and Rowan must navigate not only the tomb’s relentless logic… but the growing truth between them. And in a place built to measure how far you fall— the only thing that matters… is how you rise.
